Transportation Coordinator
Goal: The Transportation Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring animals travel safely and efficiently between foster homes, vet clinics, adoption centers, and partner shelters. This volunteer helps keep our rescue operations running smoothly by scheduling, coordinating, and tracking all animal transport activities with staff, team leads, and fellow TCR volunteer drivers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate animal transport requests from various teams between foster homes, vet clinics, shelters, and adoption sites.
Available throughout the day on a flexible schedule to schedule drives when appropriately needed
Respond to emails within 2-3 hours
Schedule and assign volunteer drivers for transport shifts.
Maintain up-to-date transport requests/schedules and communicate any changes promptly.
Track animals in transit and ensure all documentation (medical records, intake forms, etc.) travels with them.
Communicate with drivers, fosters, and team leads about transport timing and expectations.
Support emergency transport needs (e.g., urgent vet visits, shelter pulls).
Report transport issues to the executive director.
Qualifications & Expectations:
Must be 18 years or older.
Proficient with Google applications (Google Sheets, Docs & Drive, Smartsheets, etc.) and a willingness to learn – training will be provided.
Access to reliable internet and phone.
Detail-oriented work ethic and ability to follow strict TCR protocols and guidelines, using good judgment.
Have strong communication skills.
Knowledge of Toronto Cat Rescue is an asset.
