Stray Cat Assistance

If you have found a cat, please first consider the possibility that it may be a lost pet rather than an abandoned stray. Many owned cats spend time outdoors and may simply be away from home.

As a first step, we recommend taking the cat to a local veterinary clinic to be scanned for a microchip. Most veterinary clinics will perform a microchip scan free of charge. You can also check for identification, ask neighbours if they recognize the cat, and post on local lost and found pet groups.

If the cat is injured and is located within the City of Toronto, please contact 311 for assistance.

Please note that Toronto Cat Rescue is not able to assist with trapping feral cats. If you are seeking Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) or feral cat assistance, we encourage you to contact organizations in your community that specialize in feral cat management.

Completing this form does not guarantee that Toronto Cat Rescue will be able to provide assistance. All requests are reviewed based on the cat's circumstances and our available resources.
