Lucy’s Healing Happy Tail

We’re thrilled to share another heartwarming Happy Tail story: Lucy and her mom Karen!

Lucy had a rough start in life and had learned not to trust humans.  A little patience from a dedicated adopter has changed her life for the better.

We recently received updates from Karen and Lucy has certainly found her forever place in a loving, calm and happy environment.

When Karen lost her two long-term feline companions in the same year, she didn’t think she was ready for another one.  All that changed when she saw an email from us regarding a hoarding situation and she knew she had to help.

Intending only to foster, Karen picked the last cat on the rescue list: Lucy.

Lucy came from the shelter with lots of issues. Her anxiety was evident by her incessant overgrooming, a tendency to bite and refusing to accept touch.  Previous adoption attempts had failed due to her habit of attacking ankles.

Luckily, Karen recognized that Lucy was traumatized and that her issues required time, patience and persistence.  With Karen, the work of Lucy’s recovery had began.

While still not a cuddly cat, a bond quickly developed and Lucy has learned to play for hours on end.  Karen knows that this is an important part of the healing process and bought her lots of toys.  Lucy however prefers stealing hair ties from the dresser and making sure they know who is in charge.

Lucy has now found a fur-ever home where she can feel safe sleeping on the bed at night and watching television with Karen on the sofa.

Karen has helped Lucy heal. In return, Lucy has given Karen her own gift of healing companionship!
