Healing Hearts this Valentine’s Day
Let us come together to show our love and compassion by participating in Toronto Cat Rescue's "Healing Hearts" fundraising campaign.
Carlo Rossi’s Story
With your generous donation, our “Healing Hearts” Fundraising campaign has raised just over $20,000.00. There is still time to reach our goal of $25,000.00.
February has been a month of hard luck stories and this one of young Carlo Rossi is the saddest of all. This 7 month old kitten came into the program a few days ago with both eyes severely damaged. He needed urgent bi-lateral enucleation. He is an exceptionally sweet kitten, despite the excruciating pain he endured for too long. How he got to this terrible state is not known, but the vet’s speculation is an eye infection that was left untreated for too long.
We are always amazed at the resilience and strength of our rescue cats. Despite this young kitten’s pain and suffering, his spirit remains unbroken. He is so friendly and affectionate. He will quickly learn to navigate his territory with ease, using other senses. Blindness will not slow him down. With your support, we can provide Carlo Rossi with all the medical care he needs to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who donated this month. Your generosity has helped change the fate of Ali with the fractured femur, Indira who needs an amputation after her babies are weaned, 32 cats from an overcrowded home, and now Charlie Rossi. Because of you these lucky felines have a brighter and happier future.
Indira’s Story
Indira recently arrived into our care with a femur fracture. Her injury is older and has evolved into a chronic condition. This means the best course of treatment is a full amputation of her left hind leg.
The plot thickens because Indira is mid-term pregnant! Our first priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of her and her babies while in foster care. Then in approximately 14-16 weeks, after the babies are weaned, Indira will undergo both the amputation and a spay procedure.
By donating to this fundraising campaign, you are not only helping Indira regain her mobility and freedom from pain, but you are also ensuring that her kittens have a chance at a happy and healthy life. The cost of the amputation surgery, along with the necessary medical care and rehabilitation, is substantial, and we cannot do it without your help.
Every dollar counts, and your contribution will directly impact Indira’s journey towards recovery.
Ali’s Story
TCR is the last hope for special needs cats requiring expensive medical care, like sweet Ali.
Ali is a brave boy who found himself in a local shelter as a stray with a fractured femur. Upon discovering the severity of Ali's injury, the shelter had no resources to help and was facing a hard decision if they could find no rescue outlet.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, TCR quickly mobilized to rush Ali to an orthopaedic surgeon.
When this beautiful boy arrived at the emergency hospital for pre-op medical examination, it was found that he had a heart murmur and enlarged heart. This meant rushing him to a cardiologist for work-up, which was an unanticipated costly procedure.
The cost of Ali's life-saving surgery and extensive post-op medical care to ensure a full recovery will be over $10,000.00. He's only 3 years old with a whole life left to live. TCR will give him that second chance at a healthy and prosperous life.
No amount is too small. Every donation, whether big of small, will bring us closer to our goal. Your contribution will go directly towards Ali's surgery and care.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. With your help, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable rescue cats.

Help us rescue more cats
Last week, TCR received an urgent call to rescue 32 cats from an overcrowding situation. We have already started placing these cats in warm, safe foster homes.
Will you help us rescue 32 cats in need?
Each cat will need a veterinary exam and spay/neuter at minimum - some will require additional procedures, treatments, and even surgeries.
These adorable cats have had a rough start in life - facing neglect, malnutrition, and poor living conditions. They need a safe space to start trusting humans and living the pampered life every cat deserves.
