Feral Cat Recovery Centre Attendant

Goal

To assist with caring for the cats and cleaning the facility.

Help Us Make a Difference

Toronto Cat Rescue proudly supports the Trap-Neuter-Return (Maintain) TNR(M) movement. TNR saves lives, prevents cat overpopulation and reduces nuisance behaviour in the community. TNR is the most humane approach to dealing with the feral cat crisis. Cats can live healthy happy lives in a well managed colony.

We manage the Feral Cat Recovery Centre (RC), which was opened in late 2012 in a City of Toronto complex close to the Scarborough Town Centre. This space is for all Toronto Feral Cat Coalition members as a space for feral post-surgical recovery before returning the cats to their respective colonies.

Working with feral cats is very different from working with domesticated pets or stray cats. These cats are wild and cannot be handled directly by anyone. Safety precautions, which will be covered during training, are in place and must be followed at all times. It is important to know that this can be a dirty job, in an industrial building and requires a serious commitment to following protocols to keep everyone safe.

From time to time, you will have the opportunity to meet some really friendly cats! TCR hosts approximately 6 large intakes each year and you can meet some really friendly cats too!
