$175 adoption fee for each cat

This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

TCR offers six weeks of free pet insurance for your newly adopted cat through Pet Secure. To activate your free pet insurance, please go to adoptsecure.ca or call 1-800-268-1169 within 10 days of adoption. We recommend that you activate the insurance when you bring your new family member home with 0you.

**All insurance questions and benefits should be directed through the pet insurance company and not Toronto Cat Rescue.**

To ensure that our cats & kittens go to responsible and loving homes, an adoption coordinator will conduct a short pre-adoption interview.

Adult Cats Need Homes Too!

Kitten season, in Ontario, lasts for a long time. It starts in early spring and can continue until winter. Often during kitten season adult cats are overlooked for the smaller, cuter, kitten version. During this time TCR's numbers tend to rise (as you can see on the available cats page) to the point where there are not enough foster homes to continue saving cats from the streets, shelters, and lost homes.

However, adopting an adult cat does not only help our organization, there are many other great reasons and advantages to adopt an older cat.

  • By one year their personality has developed: You can ask the foster family what the cat is like to get the best fit for you!
  • They are not as crazy around the house: Kittens can be trouble makers, an older cat will cause much less hassle when being introduced into your house.
  • No extra work: Older cats will be litter trained, spayed/neutered, have updated shots, and can often seamlessly integrate into your home.
  • We have cats of all sorts: Do you have kids? Other cats? Dogs? Ask for a cat that is comfortable in the situation you live in.
Being A Responsible Pet Owner

There is more to owning a pet than cuddles and giggles. When you adopt an animal you are taking responsibility for a life. Your pet will love you unconditionaly, and it is up to you to return this respect and love. Pets are not a convenience, to be discarded or treated based on our needs.
