Dudley

DSH, orange tabby, male, neutered, vaccinated, FIV +, DOB July 1, 2004. Sweet, sweet Dudley (aka Duddykins) is a real tub of melted butter! His sad story started last summer when he was trapped from a thirty-cat colony, where we believe he was the father of many of the kittens in the area. He was quickly deemed friendly and we started treating him for a chronic runny eye. Soon it was discovered that Dudley's eye, while no longer infected, was slightly inverted. This means that the eye lid is slightly turned in and so sometimes his eye will become goopy and runny from irritation. There is a surgery which could out-turn his eye, however vets have told us it would be risky and purely for cosmetic purposes as his inner eyelid is protecting his eye from damage. Dudley has twice been adopted and returned, and in both cases his owners were terribly upset to give him up as he is such a lovely boy, but were worried about his health and believed he was going to make their cats sick and cost thousands of dollars. Dudley is such a placid and friendly cat that he has re-adjusted to being bounced around well. The really sad thing however, is that Dudley is a totally healthy cat. Yes he is FIV+, however if you do a little research you will find out that this virus is only passed to other cats through deep wounds. Dudley is a peach head with other cats and for this reason his foster mom mixed him with non-FIV cats without a concern. Wouldn't you do the same? He feels like his life has been sentenced because of a silly test. FIV is not contagious to humans or dogs so if you don't have other cats Dudley would also be happy to be your companion. With or without other cats, Dudley just wants some lov'n! TCR has spent hundreds of dollars to re-confirm over and over again that this boy is in good health, and each time we get the same answer - "Yes, he is". If it weren't for the blood results, you'd never know Dudley had FIV. He is healthy and happy and should live a totally normal life. If you snap your fingers he waddles over and follows your hands and self-pets himself. He loves cheek rubs and bum scratches, and even lets you scratch his belly! He is generally a quiet cat, however he does sometimes have a conversation with the walls at night, so it'd be best if you are a deep sleeper like his foster mom is! Dudley is also a very playful cat. He may not run fast, but he will do his best to be a kitty athlete and catch whatever you throw his way. He is a lovely boy who really deserves to find a forever home - for good this time!

$175 adoption fee for each cat

This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

TCR offers six weeks of free pet insurance for your newly adopted cat through Pet Secure. To activate your free pet insurance, please go to adoptsecure.ca or call 1-800-268-1169 within 10 days of adoption. We recommend that you activate the insurance when you bring your new family member home with 0you.

**All insurance questions and benefits should be directed through the pet insurance company and not Toronto Cat Rescue.**

To ensure that our cats & kittens go to responsible and loving homes, an adoption coordinator will conduct a short pre-adoption interview.
