Volunteer Appreciation at Toronto Cat Rescue

Our volunteers are our organisation’s beating heart, and we celebrate them for that…

Volunteer Appreciation Month

At Toronto Cat Rescue we’re powered by our more than 1,000 volunteers, without whom we couldn’t do what we do.

We value our volunteers so much that we couldn’t just to Volunteer Appreciation Week, we needed to make it Volunteer Appreciation Month!

Thank you to each and everyone one of our incredible volunteer team. We’d love to celebrate you all here, but we think there’s enough space in the cloud to list you all! So a few key people are included below.

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month everyone!

Catherine & Patrick

Catherine became an animal person soon after meeting Patrick, and the adopted their first cat, Foxy, in 2015. It didn’t stop there however…

They became mature cat fosterers, to keep a nice home dynamic with Foxy. They’ve also volunteered in other ways, becoming both kitten food and medications distribution hubs for other foster families.

Sadly Foxy passed away last year, and they’re planning to foster her honour.

Sarah

A volunteer of 16 years, with 11 as our Board Chair, Sarah’s volunteer impact is huge. We wouldn’t be where we are today without her.

Sarah joined us as a teenager and grew into a leader and a change-maker, making a better world for future generations.

After 16 years with us Sarah recently moved to B.C., and it’s fair to say Toronto’s loss is Vancouver’s gain!

Dorothy, Lisa & Tabita

These three amazing volunteers lead out adoptions team, managing 20 volunteer Adoption Counsellors and helping re-home thousands of cats each year.

They find the very best forever homes for cats in foster care, in stores and at adoptathon events.

They are the engine that keeps our adoptions activity running, without them we simply couldn’t do what we do.

A huge, huge thank you is owed to these 3 heroins! 🙌

Bev

With her professional expertise and warm heart, Bev makes invaluable contributions to Toronto Cat Rescue.

After time as our Board Director Bev continued as part of our governance committee, the small but mighty team who make sure we have the right policies and processes to be compliant as a charity.

Bev is a hero without a cape and we are thankful for her kind, consistent and incredibly supportive contribution.

Peter

As one of our heroic driver volunteers, Peter fights rush hour traffic and tours the city helping cats get to where they need to be - to foster homes, to vet clinics, to pet stores for speed adoptions.

Volunteers like Peter help us 7 days a week, and are truly like the city’s fourth emergency service (but without the flashing lights).

A massive thank you to Peter & all our volunteer drivers!

Julie

Julie wears many hats for our Kitchener-Waterloo region wing of Toronto Cat Rescue.

She’s the Store Coordinator and Adoption Counsellor for PetSmart Kitchener, as well as being a driver and a foster home. She’s also part of the Waterloo lead team!

She’s a compassionate and kind leader and brings the vibrant social spirit needed to get the job done!

Thank you for everything you do Julie!

Nicky

Nicky has volunteered with out Waterloo Region chapter for 7 years, where she epitomises dedication and responsibility as our Volunteer Coordinator for the local PetSmart store.

In this role, Nicky oversees the operations of the store volunteers and coordinates all volunteer schedules.

She’s a meticulous planner, an exceptional leader, and most importantly, she cares with the utmost compassion for the cats we rescue. Thank you Nicky!
